Malaria camp concludes at Bhanupratappur

RAIPUR: Medicine spraying campaign 2013 formalaria eradication under national vector-borne disease control programme concluded at development block of Bhanupratappur. The campaign had started in September this year.

During the campaign, at least 87 parasite-infested villages under 24 sub-health centres were selected and 1,210 kg Alpha-Cypermethrin medicine was sprayed.

According to heath department, medicine was sprayed in 14,652 houses, fulfilling 97% of the year's target. Such campaigns are launched every year to control malaria parasite infection in the area, said a health official. During exigencies, malaria control vigilance teams conduct rapid fever survey and try to control the disease, he added.

According to data with the health department, malaria infects nearly a lakh of people in Chhattisgarh every year. In 2012, 93,218 people were affected resulting in the death of 84.
